If you’re planning to travel abroad, you may need to be vaccinated against some of the serious diseases found in other parts of the world.

Vaccinations are available to protect you against infections, some of which you may already be protected against if you are up to date with the NHS immunisation program. However, you may require additional vaccines depending on the location you are traveling to.

Booking in for our travel clinic service is easy, either click on the link below or use the booking calendar at the bottom of this page:

Alternatively, if you need to speak to someone from our team and book in an emergency appointment, call either of our branches down below:
*Please note: This service is available at both our Pontarddulais and Killays Stores.

When Should I Start Finding Out What Travel Vaccines I Need?

We would advise making an appointment to discuss travel vaccinations at least 8 weeks before you are planning to travel, however, we are still able to help if you are traveling sooner. Some vaccines will need to be given well in advance of your travel as this will allow your body time to develop immunity, while other vaccines require a number of doses spread over several weeks or months.

You may be more at risk of some diseases, for example, if you’re:

  1. Traveling in rural areas.
  2. Backpacking.
  3. Staying in hostels or camping.
  4. On a long trip rather than a package holiday.

If you have a pre-existing health problem, this may make you more at risk of infection or complications from a travel-related illness.

Which Travel Vaccines Do I Need?

Have your itinerary ready for your telephone consultation and our Pharmacist will identify and recommend any or all of the vaccinations or antimalarials that will be required for your trip.

Some countries require proof of vaccination which must be documented on an International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP) before you enter or when you leave a country. Even if an ICVP is not required, it’s still a good idea to take a record of the vaccinations you have had with you.

Saudi Arabia requires proof of vaccination against certain types of meningitis for visitors arriving for the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages.
