What Is Meningitis?
Meningitis is an infection that triggers inflammation in the protective membranes enveloping the brain and spinal cord, known as meninges. The vaccination shields you from this disease. Administered via a single injection in the upper arm, the Nimenrix vaccine, also referred to as MenACWY, guards against four strains of meningococcal bacteria—A, C, W, and Y—responsible for meningitis and blood poisoning (septicaemia).
Who Needs The Meningitis Jab?
Our travel clinic experts recommend getting the vaccine if you are planning on travelling to any of the below regions where the disease is more widespread:
- All children aged between 13 to 15.
