What Is Cholera?
Cholera is a bacterial infection that can cause severe diarrhoea if contracted. Although it is rare in the UK, there is a small risk when travelling to certain regions worldwide. Cholera can be contracted by drinking contaminated water, eating food prepared by an infected person, or consuming food stored in unclean water.
Who Needs The Cholera Vaccination?
If you fall into the groups below, then we recommend you getting the vaccine:
- If you’re travelling somewhere that has a high prevalence of cholera and there is a lack of medical facilities for treatment, such as parts of Africa and Asia.
- If you are working in an area as a relief worker and there has been or is likely to be a cholera outbreak.

* The Initial consultation is free. A fixed £20 consultation fee is added to a vaccine visit and a subsequent £10 thereafter (this is not per vaccine but per visit).

During the telephone consultation, we will review your specific itinerary and previous vaccination record. We will determine whether the cholera vaccine will be required depending on the area you are travelling to

Finally, we will book you in for a face-to-face consultation. Our travel clinic expert will administer the vaccination to ensure you are fully protected whilst travelling.
