Every lesion is clinically assessed before any decision about treatment. Anything atypical or suspicious is referred for specialist assessment, not treated here. We may also send the lesion to histopathology.

What it is

Warts are rough, raised growths caused by human papillomavirus infecting the top layer of skin. Verrucas are the same thing on the sole of the foot, pushed flat by body weight. Many resolve on their own eventually, and over-the-counter salicylic acid or cryotherapy will clear a proportion — our pharmacy team can advise on those first, and often that is the sensible starting point.

Assessment comes first

The wart is examined before treatment, and anything atypical is referred for specialist assessment rather than treated here. Where pharmacy treatment is the more sensible starting point, we will say so.

How it works

Local anaesthetic, then curettage and cautery — the wart is removed at skin level and the base sealed. Because warts are viral, there is a recurrence rate even after complete removal, and we will say so before you book rather than after.

The £95 skin lesion assessment fee is payable in addition to the cost of treatment. A £50 deposit is payable when a procedure is booked and is deducted from the cost of your treatment. Histology — £160 first lesion · £95 each additional lesion. Laboratory examination of removed tissue where clinically indicated as part of your assessment and management. Suture removal is included where sutures are used. Treatment prices start from the figure shown. Yes; they are viral, and recurrence is possible even after complete removal.
