Every lesion is clinically assessed before any decision about treatment. Anything atypical or suspicious is referred for specialist assessment, not treated here. We may also send the lesion to histopathology.

What it is

Skin tags (acrochordons) are small, soft, skin-coloured growths on a narrow stalk. They form where skin rubs against skin or clothing — neck, armpits, groin, under the breasts, eyelids. They are harmless in themselves, but they catch on necklaces, collars, seatbelts and razors, and they bleed and become inflamed when they do.

Assessment comes first

Where a tag is symptomatic — catching, bleeding, becoming inflamed, being repeatedly traumatised, or interfering with function. That is a common and genuine reason to treat, and it is the basis on which this clinic treats them.

How it works

Small tags are treated by curettage and cautery — the base is treated with heat, which removes the tag and seals the vessel in one step. Larger tags are excised. Local anaesthetic is used, including a topical anaesthetic for delicate sites such as the eyelids.

Histology is not routinely required for skin tags.

The £95 skin lesion assessment fee is payable in addition to the cost of treatment. A £50 deposit is payable when a procedure is booked and is deducted from the cost of your treatment. Histology — £160 first lesion · £95 each additional lesion. Laboratory examination of removed tissue where clinically indicated as part of your assessment and management. Suture removal is included where sutures are used. Treatment prices start from the figure shown.
